Different Types of Flags

A flag is a piece of cloth whose one side is tied to a pole. Initially a flag was used for the purpose of identification and signalling, but today it is a method to deliver messages, publicity and advertising or to make a place decorative. Depending upon its usage and place of use, there can be different interpretations of flags.
Every team, be it a group of sports players or army personnel, professional colleague or university students, is represented by a colour or a flag. The use of flags and banners has evolved from national and state level occasions to colleges, business and religious organizations.

National Flags
Whenever we hear the word ‘flag’, National Flag is what come to our mind immediately. These solid color flags   symbolise the pride of a national. People associate their patriotism with their national flags, an emotion which became more visible during wars and other manmade calamities. Flags have also been used since centuries to mark the territory of a governing body. There was a time in History when British colonized a major chunk of the world and every new province was represented with the new flag. With time countries under their rule began the fight of sovereignty and adopted their own flags at their independence.

Sports Flags
Sports flags are a pair of white, yellow and red flags which are used in activities like swimming, golf and skiing to mark the limits of boundaries.

Team Flags
Sportsmen, associations and institutions like to adopt flags that signify their spirit and a cause. This practice promotes courage and determination and used by some to motivate their fellow team members.

Railway Flags
Railways make use of flags to indicate different meanings, such as red for stopping, yellow for proceed with care, green for go and blue for work in progress.

Army, Navy and Air force of all the major counties have their own flag that flies high on the top of each of their establishment.
